Red-Carpet Rockers

Awards season is in full swing and though it’s supposed to be about the films, we all know what really matters most: the dresses, naturally! Check out these 10 red-carpet-ready frocks, inspired by your favourite Golden Globes looks, to help you steal the scene at your next fête.

Did you catch the Globes the other night? Who do you think won best-dressed?  I loved Kate Hudson (b/c I love Kate Hudson and I loved her choice) Thumbs down to Halle Berry (love her, her dress was super ug though...).  Thought Jessica Alba, Amy Adams, Kerry Washington and that American Idol/Smash girl killed it, too. Though of anyone, you'd think Dior Couture could have figured out how to make that dress fit Jessica Chastain, no? Such a shame - she looked beyond gorgeous otherwise...

I'll be wearing one of these dresses to my next red carpet event.  Wondering if my invite got lost in the mail? Commence thumb-twiddling...

Magdalena Draped Jersey Evening Gown, $348, BCBG Maxazria (inspired by Anne Hathaway's Chanel)

Sequins Skirt Straight-Cut Dress, $59.99, Mango (inspired by Julianne Moore's graphic Tom Ford)

Karey Lace-Detail Evening Gown, $338, BCBG Maxazria (inspired by Jessica Chastain's Dior, with a better fit)

No matter how routiney or predictable we become, there's something about the end of the year that inspires us to believe; We believe we can get out of that massive rut, that we can tranform into that person we've always wanted to become, that we can change for the better. After a week-long binge-fest, I've already made some mental resolutions that I hope to keep, though I know that every year, sometime around January 13th, I'll likely slip back into at least a few old habits.

Regardless, a girl can always dream - and in my laid-back holiday state, as I lie here happily ensonced on my couch, watching piles of movies with my kids and trying to muster up the effort to hit the toboggan hill, I've already dreamt up some stellar New Year's Eve outfits. I figure by the time the 31st rolls around, I'll be very ready to toss aside my well-worn pajama pants and get back into my heels to kick in the brand new year. Here's to wishing and hoping and for all of us, a truly wonderful 2013.

ela ela ela Yay Yay Yay

My sweet sorella just bought me this Editor's Pouch as a b-day/Christmas gift and it's the new love of my life. I've been eyeing it online for awhile now but it's one of those things that you really have to hold to understand.  The cool stud detail is built right into the buttery leather (don't ask me how they do it) and then, the gold zip opens to reveal a stunning deep purple interior. Yum. I hugged it the entire way home, ignoring every disapproving glance from the boy.

Get the ela Editor's Pouch online at thecode.ca ($178-$188)  The graphite is sold out but luckily it's still available in other pretty shades like Sand, Lipstick and Silver Mirror Stud.  Cheaper than therapy?

ps - Sing the title as Rihanna would.  Sometimes i worry that my humour gets lost in translation...
