ALDO Launches #FriendsFight Campaign

Though it might surprise many, ALDO is about more than just pretty shoes, and has raised an impressive $10 million (!) towards international AIDS efforts over the past 30 years. Now, ALDO is urging everyone to join its continued fight against AIDS with the launch of its new #FriendsFight Campaign.

“We have been committed to the fight against AIDS as far back as 1985, when few were willing to take a stand. It’s a cause very close to our heart and today, more than ever, we continue our commitment to raising awareness and funds to help protect and educate people around the world. We’ve come a long way but the fight is not over yet,” said Aldo Bensadoun, Founder and Executive Chairman of the ALDO Group. “This bracelet is an important symbol. It represents friendship and solidarity. It’s an invitation to join together in the fight against AIDS.”

The unisex bracelets, available in red, black, navy and mint and designed in collaboration with Waris Loves You, will retail for $5 with 100% of net proceeds donated to Partners in Health, a non-profit whose groundbreaking HIV Equity Initiative in rural Haiti revolutionized the way the world approaches and funds diseases of the poor. The #FriendsFight friendship bracelets will be sold in select ALDO stores worldwide and online at www.aldoshoes.com starting Feb 1st, 2014. Buy one, or stack 'em up. Either way, you'll be helping an amazing cause.

So, wanna fight?

xx

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em; or in the case of winter, dress like it. If you've got a case of the January blues, wondering when this deep freeze is going to end, sometimes all you have to do is peep your nose out of your parka to get inspired. Whether it's the crisp white snow, the powder blue and pink skies at sunset, or even all that grey slush at your feet, the soft pastel colours of winter are actually way prettier than black, and just might help you feel the calm after an ice storm.

Read on for 12 super stylish ways to beat the winter blues...

(including this little beauty who looks very ready for a margarita, wouldn't you say?)

One week into January and we've already had 3 snow days. Luckily, the deep freeze means that I've had loads of time indoors to manhandle one of the top resolutions on my list: my closet. Though I'm supposed to be a good editor since my job title is 'Fashion Expert', even my closet is filled with things I really don't need. So now, we're colour-coded, culled and totally caught up which means that I'm allowing myself to buy a few more things. Pilled and stretched sweaters need to be replaced, old jeans need updating and, of course, I have my eye on a few things that I want, just because they're pretty.

To kick off the year, I've rounded up some gorgeous finds from Smart Set to help you in your quest to look more chic in 2014. Read on for my top tips + enter to win a $100 gift card to shop Smart Set's new collection...

14 Resolutions Worth Keeping in 2014

Originally posted in The LOOK

At -21 degrees (windchill notwithstanding), 2014 is off to a very chilly start. While you huddle up indoors, away from the deadly polar vortex swirling around outside, I think now's a pretty good time to take stock of the year ahead. If you're like me, my grand New Year's resolutions never really pan out the way I plan. All good intentions for eating like Gwyneth Paltrow and working out like a ninja usually fall by the wayside sometime around next week and by then, I'll likely already be back to my 2013 ways.

So this year, I resolve to make more realistic goals - small little things that will make a positive impact on my day-to-day, from wearing cooler jeans to updating my playlist. If you're looking to refresh, recharge and renew, too, read on for the 14 New Year's resolutions that might actually be worth keeping this year...
