Being a camp girl, I experienced my fair share of tie-dye experiments gone horribly wrong.  Spring 2010 saw designers trying out tie-dye in surprisingly sophisticated ways, with only a slight nod to the '70s.  I love the way Tory Burch mixed tie-dye shorts with a sophisticated blazer and tee.  Any off-shoot of tie-dye will do, including this fun ikat-print skirt from cheap and cheerful Forever 21.  Flats, of course, are making a big statement this season and are the perfect way of giving off that fancy-free vibe.  Real Life Runway Tip:  Tie-dye is best worn in small doses so stick with one statement-making piece and keep the rest of your look classic and neutral.  Go overboard and you might as well douse yourself in patchouli and tiger balm.  Ech.
