HIT REFRESH | My Shopbop Early Spring Picks

via Shopbop

It's around this time of year that I always get the powerful urge to purge. I want to give away all of my faded pants, play hide-and-seek with my winter coats (oops, guess they're lost for another season), and basically just hit refresh on my entire wardrobe. Anyone else feel the same way right now? As a Shopbop blogger ambassador, I'm constantly creeping the site to see what's new, so I've picked a handful of faves - some relatively guilt-free, one particular Tibi trench purely aspirational at this point. Though, I would be quite tempted to curb my impulsive shopping habits for a few months to own that beauty. If only I hadn't already bought those killer Schutz lace-ups...Um, yup. #budgetssuck

Oh-So Cinco de Mayo

Handmade Embroidery Blouse, $59.95, Mango

Necklace with Tassels, $19.95, H&M

1969 Cuffed Always Skinny Jeans, $49.99, GAP

Deborah Lippmann Summer Nail Polish in Don't Stop Believin', $22, Sephora

Printed Espadrille Slip-Ons, $44.95, GAP

Well, Spring, you're fashionably late, I'll give you that. And while I can relate, especially on this particular Monday, it's inevitable that deadlines must be met - fashion stories in my case, blooming flowers in yours - and we will get back on track.

Since it's Cinco de Mayo, let's make today the day to get this spring party started. These bright celebratory pieces are just the thing to heat things up.  Try taking a canvas of all white, then add in splashes of fiesta-friendly brights in the form of orange polish or lipstick, a super fun tasseled necklace, and striped espadrilles. So fun, si?

My job is done. Spring? Looks like you're up...

SPRING TRENDS: How to Pull Off Purple

The Burberry Prorsum Spring '14 Runway. Photo via: The ZOE Report

Originally posted in The Fashion Scoop

As we talked about last week, purple is just one of those colours; you either really like it or you really don't. As little girls, we flock to the hue because there's only so much pink we can wear. And, of course, there's the whole royalty thing. But while purple hasn't been on trend for quite some time, there's a shake-up happening in the fashion world right now. Give credit to the Duchess and the modern purple dresses she regularly rocks on the red carpet, or blame it on Burberry, (I blame all my problems on Burberry), but shades of purple are currently having a major moment. And with Pantone's recent declaration that 'Radiant Orchid' is the 'It' colour of 2014, looks like purple is here to stay.

Read on for the chic colour combos that will help you pull off purple with aplomb (or should I say a-plum? hee hee)...
