WHAT'S GOOD | My Top Summer Beauty Picks from Sephora

Okay, so I have good news and I have bad news. Let's start with the good news: a shiny new Sephora is now officially open at Vaughan Mills. Now for the bad news: a shiny new Sephora is now officially open at Vaughan Mills. The minute I heard my fave beauty boîte was coming to VM, my heart swelled and my credit card dug itself deeper into my wallet.
Let's just say that I have a bit of a problem when it comes to Sephora. Like any addict, I require a level of self-control that isn't always easy to maintain. If it's a tough day, or a rainy day, or any day that ends in 'day', I find myself coveting that new cream, that new shade of lipstick, that new highlighter, that serum that everyone's obsessing over.

Still, a blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do and I had to go to check out the new Sephora and report back. See pics I took at the VIB grand opening party and my top summer beauty picks from Sephora over on the Vaughan Mills blog now. Some damage was done (but I have to say my skin is looking great)...

THE BEAUTY EDIT: The Prettiest Picks for Fall and Holiday 2013

Cara Delevingne for the Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Holiday 2013 Campaign.

 Originally posted in The CLOSET

It's not easy being pretty. Sure, we all know that true beauty comes from within but let's be honest - it's nice to have a glowing face, shiny hair and clump-free lashes as icing on the cake, don't you think? Luckily, all it takes to look 'naturally' beautiful is a little cleanser, concealer, BB cream, CC cream (??), toner, primer, foundation, blush, mascara, eye makeup remover and night cream. Oh, and don't forget the nails - from basecoats and topcoats, to ring finger nail art and perfect polish remover. Oh wait, then there's the hair - shampoos, conditioners, detanglers, hair oil, waxes, pomades, dryers, straighteners, curlers, stylers. Um, anyone else ready to tear their hair out yet?

To sift through all the confusion and to take the guesswork out of picking the right products, I headed to Sephora, the pantheon of beauty, the hallowed halls of all things pretty, and edited it down to my top beauty picks for you...

Fête Accomplie: Part 2

Originally posted in The CLOSET

Now that November's arrived (along with a little bit of snow and Starbucks' red cups), it's all about the holidays. Before you know it, you'll be getting invites - whether it's to your office mixer, a New Year's party, or a fun little gift exchange with your besties. There are so many reasons to celebrate in the coming months and since parties generally mean dressing up (yay!), we thought you might need a little inspiration. Here are 3 pretty looks to help get you prepped for the madness. Though dresses are always a safe bet, I love the idea of trying something new and fun, especially around the holidays, whether it's a sweater and skirt combo in chic winter white, an edgy lace blouse with rockstar accessories, or an eclectic mix of printed pants with an easy chambray shirt. The best part? You'll be able to add these pieces into your wardrobe all year 'round. Then, all you have to do is brush up on your Gangnam Style moves so you can properly hit the dance floor. Seriously.

The Taylor Tomasi Hill Effect

Taylor Tomasi Hill mixes it up in at the Rochas show in Paris. Source: StyleBistro

As former Style and Accessories Director at Marie Claire and current Artistic Director at Moda Operandi, Taylor Tomasi Hill has an eye for the extras. Add to that her fearless approach to fashion (she’s the current one-to-watch in the street style world) and her supermodel looks and we’re completely smitten.

So, how do you pull off Taylor’s aristo-chic look? Mix up unexpected colours and textures, always keep your hair well-groomed (fiery red hue optional) and of course, never forget the power of killer statement accessories.  For all the luxe-for-less pieces to help you nab the coveted TTH vibe, check out my story this week at iVillage.ca.  Love her!
